Pumpkins, pumpkins growing on a vine

We have been talking about pumpkins in our classroom. Those are one of the many items you can find on a farm!
We are still learning about the parts of the pumpkin (stem, ribs, pulp and seeds, pulp and seeds-tune of head shoulders knees and toes), and the life cycle of a pumpkin. We will be making pumpkin patterns too! We will also use the seeds from inside to create a 10 frame pumpkin seed counting book. This is another emergent reader that your children can practice sight words, or "reading" with you!
One way to explore with pumpkins was to open one up and and dig in! I love their reactions because it is never a pleasant one . My favorite quote from asking "What do you think will be insdie?" Maddox a AM Octopus friend told me "a lot of yucky stuff that will make you need to wash your hands..." Fantastic!
