Welcome (back) to the Octopus Room!

Hello Octopus Families! Welcome back for all my returning families, and welcome to my classroom to all the new families :)
I am so excited to have the classroom filled with stories, meeting new friends, laughing, and "busy school sounds" from all the new and returning Octopi in a few days!
It has been a busy week getting to meet everyone that is new to the Octopus room, and catching up on summer details with my returning Octopi :)
The classroom cubbies are set up with MORE mail for mom and dad to read!
Octopus names are patiently waiting on the door ready to be hung up on the cubbies!

Art easel. Paint is messy and fun! Many beautiful creations happen on this easel.

The other part of the easel is learning to use our fine motor skills to draw representational pictures and shapes

Fine motor tub toys allow for hand strengthening and exploration

Dramatic play: this allows for cooperative play skills to develop and grow

Path games all for turn taking opportunities as well as developing math skills. Starting the school year there is making a pattern, roll and build in a 10 frame, sorting socks. Top picture is roll and cover the octopi, and feed the sea gull!

light table. This is a sensory building experience!

Learning to read everyone's names, as well as matching their faces to their name is an important part of building the classroom community as well as emergent reading skills!

opening soon, the block area. Many amazing buildings are made in this center

We even become scientist in preschool! We start the year with colors. Exploration with books, sorting, and even the beloved book our classroom "Brown Bear, Brown Bear!"

Classroom is set. Octopus Names on the door and cubbies awaiting book bags!

Taking a break helps us learn how to manage our emotions and feelings. We practice many strategies at the start of the school year

Sensory table is always changing. Right now it is a great game of ISPY

Group time is where so many great things happen! So much learning, songs, and academic knowledge. All while building the important classroom community!
