Exploring the rain forest

Welcome to the jungle :)

welcome to the rain forest

We have switched themes again. It is now an amazing rain forest! We will learn many things during this theme:
4 layers of the rain forest
Letters S and G
pattern snakes
animals in the rain forest: morpho butterfly, boa constrictors, (fork) for the main of lions
spin art (science) and colors
graphing with animal crackers
Big, Medium, and small journal activity
writing the numbers 1-10
recognizing 11-20
addition and subtraction monkey tree
chomping alligator (pick a number and push down the teeth; watch out for the alligator snap!)

Rain forest addition/subtraction

Many children are ready for addition and subtraction; it simply amazes me. However if they are not, this simple activity is a great way to expose them to addition and subtraction.
They roll the die, add the "coconuts" and "apples" to the monkeys tree! Basic addition and subtraction.

President of MECC (AM)

Much like the presidential election that we as parents, and teachers had to decide upon. Our entire school also got to experience this process! For a week, we listened to stories, watched videos, and created election week activities to determine if we wanted Duck for President, or Grace for President.
The children cast their ballots, and put them into the official voting boxes. It was an exciting day, and we are excited to announce that Grace is the winner :)
