Pete the Cat, groovy button addition and subtraction

 We read Pete the Cat and his four groovy buttons all week. We also had many activities that went along with the book. We put buttons on our names, retold the story by popping "buttons" off our shirts (stickers onto yellow Pete shirt), and ended the week playing a game!
This was our first exposure to addition and subtraction! Each child got their own shirt, die, and 10 buttons. They had to roll the die, add that number to the shirt, and continue until all buttons were on the shirt. Then the challenge came...they had to roll and remove the buttons until they were all back in the bag!
