Today we travelled to Germany. We talked about the colors of the flag (and similarites, and differences to ours).
We learned:
1. Germans made the 1st Christmas tree.
2. Germans made the advent calendar.
3. Germans celebate St. Nicholas. He puts gifts in the children shoes.
4. Germans sing Christmas carols.
To remember our time in Germany, we sang Christmas carols, as we made our own Christmas tree.

We started our travels today, and first stop was Australia. We learned about the differences in the flags, and how children might celebrate Christmas. Here is what we learned:
1. Santa arrives on a surf board
2. Children leave Santa lemonade and cake.
3. Christmas happens in the summer.
4. Children hunt for golden beetles.
5. Santa leaves presents in a pillow case or at a table.

To celebrate thanksgiving week, we made our very own classroom turkey. Each student decorated a feather, and we added it to the turkey body-this went along with our home to school connection of making the turkey that has been displayed in our room and the hallway.

We have changed themes once again; this time bed/night time. We will work thought those 5 little monkeys learning lots of ways to subtract and add, and a variety of ways to cut including our spirial shooting star.
