Apples apples up on top!

Today we tasted, graphed, and recorded in our journals our favorite apples! We tried yellow, green, and red. Many vocabulary words were flying out of their mouths like delicious, juicy, crunchy, sweet, and, sour. So many great ways to describe what they were tasting. Of course each apple got a vote with a thumbs up or thumbs down.

This is the house that the Octopi built

We have started our week by week letter exploration :) So far we have done the letters F and H. F was all about learning to cut shapes (circle and triangle) and create a "f"ish for our "f"ishbowl.
Letter H was about building a house out of sticks using the shapes square and triangle! It was a great way to see who is able to build and recognize shapes.

Fire Trucks are yummy!

Who knew fire trucks could be so delicious! The children got to create their very own fire trucks with graham crackers, icing, Oreo's, and licorice. This was amazing practice for learning how to spread using a "knife" (spoon). They were so excited to make their trucks and of course eat them, or save them "forever!"

How many leaves tall are you? (AM)

Throughout the year we do many measuring activities; leaves, monkey tails, gingerbread men. This past week we measured each Octopus friend to see how many leaves tall they are. This was the introduction to measuring throughout the year. This activity had many factors to it; rote counting, recognizing peers, recognizing colors (of leaves), and using vocabulary like shorter than, taller than, and equal. I loved hearing some of the my returning Octopi remembered doing this with the gingerbread men!
