Happy Hanukah!

 We are off to Israel to learn about Hanukkah.

1. In Israel, they celebrate Hanukkah.

2. They light a Menorah for 8 nights.

3. They play dreidel games.

4. The children get gold coins called Gelt

5. The celebrate by eating potato latkes

We made a handprint Menorah to remember our time in Israel.

Oh Christmas Tree-welcome to Germany

 Another stop around the world includes Germany. We learned:

1. Germans made the 1st Christmas tree.

2. Germans made the advent calendar.

3. Germans celebate St. Nicholas. He puts gifts in the children shoes.

4. Germans sing Christmas carols.

We made a Christmas tree with toliet paper rolls!




















Bonjour! Joyeux Noel!

Today we traveled to France, for a new day of holiday learning. We learned:

1. Joyeux Noel means Merry Christmas.

2. Pere Noel means Santa Claus. 

3. They make a chocolate treat called a Yule log.

4. The children put their shoes out so Pere Noel can fill them with gifts.

5.  French Navitivity scene is called a Creche.

We colored a Creche to remember our time in France.






















Happy Diwali!

Off to India we go (sorry there are no pictures as I was traveling out of the country for the weekend, but here is what we learned).

 1. Christmas is a very small festival in India.

2. They decorate banana or mango trees.

3. Some people celebrate Diwali which means row of lights.

4. Diwali happens in October-November and is celebrated for 5 days.

5. Many people celebrate by giving gifts, decorating their houses with lights, and henna or MiHindi.

The children made henna tattoo designed hands.
