PM Cookie monsters :)

Baking cookies was probably the highlight of the week :)
The children walked in saying they could "smell" the ingredients.  To say that they were excited was an understatement :)
When it was finally cookie time they got to help me scoop, pour, stir, and mix to create the dough. We talked about the ingredients, the colors, the smells, the names, and what it would do to the cookies.
The children got to scoop their own portion of the dough, add the chips or sprinkles (or both) to their cookie, and then naturally the hard part (the oven) was my job!
After the cooked, and the real good smell filled the air it was time to eat.
Needless to say, you all have professional bakers on your hands, as well as cookie monsters!

Busy in the bakery

There is so many ways to explore and play in preschool. With the bakery theme they are busy making many treats, sorting by size, and baking up treats in the sensory table!

Run, run you can't catch me...

We worked on measuring in preschool. However it was measuring with a non standard unit; Gingerbread Cookies!
We practiced by counting and watching everyone get measured with Gingerbread Cookies. We worked on writing our names, counting and coloring the cookies, and writing our number. Of course we had to take a picture and turn it into a class book to remember our first time measuring! We also found out that Mrs. Jan is the tallest teacher by one cookie :)

Down around the corner at the bakery shop

We have changed our theme to bakery :)
With the bakery theme we get to experience and taste making REAL treats. We will make cookies Thursday, and pancakes next Thursday.
Dramatic play has changed into our bakery shop where the children can make cake, cookies, doughnuts, pie, and brownies. In the sensory table, the children can play with REAL pancake batter and pretend fruit to make treats!
We are focusing on letters and numbers with our path games, and cookie box letters! We are using our senses in science, the sense of touch to sort the cupcakes by soft and hard/bumpy.
